Marie has over 10 years of legal experience representing public and private sector clients. She has advised municipalities on a wide range of matters, including land use and development, construction contracts, commercial leases, landlord/tenant issues, hiring and disciplining employees, investigations of employee complaints, elections, public information, open meetings, municipal prosecution, competitive bidding/procurement, and general governance.
Marie graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas, Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Political Science, and from SMU Dedman School of Law, Cum Laude, with her J.D. degree. She was President of the Labor and Employment Law Students Association from 2012-2013. As an undergraduate, Marie completed forty hours of coursework in order to become a Trained Mediator. While in law school, Marie was an intern for the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Marie also worked as a law clerk for the Internal Revenue Service. After law school, she accepted an attorney position with the IRS and was responsible for defending the IRS in employment litigation.
